Gertie Ellison Smith, 84, of North, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 26, at First Baptist Church of North, with the Rev. Larry Shull and the Rev. Brett Mask officiating. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Columbia.

Mrs. Smith was born in Chester County, a daughter of the late Willie B. and Lula Mae Jacobs Ellison. She was a member of First Baptist Church of North and was a member and former president of the Fort Jackson NCO Wives Club.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph C. Smith of the home; a son, William C. (Ellen) Smith of Columbia; two granddaughters, Mackenzie and Cameron Smith of Columbia; two sisters, Plumie Roddey of Great Falls and Clennie Curtis of Lugoff; and two brothers, Rembert Ellison of Great Falls and Lowell Ellison of Virginia Beach, Va.

Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home in North is in charge of arrangements.
