Mr. McMurdo died of cancer Sunday.
Born in Whitefish, Montana, he came to Spokane with his family when he was 5. He graduated from Rogers High School in 1959.
Mr. McMurdo started work for the Great Northern Railroad in 1960 and retired from Burlington Northern last October because of illness.
He recently attended Spokane Bible College.
Mr. McMurdo was a member of Valley Fourth Memorial Church and the United Transportation Union.
Survivors include his wife of one year, Yoko G.; one son, Robert R. McMurdo of Spokane; two daughters, Cindy L. Coats and Kim J. Connett, both of Spokane; two brothers, Walter R. McMurdo of Round Mountain, Nevada, and Delmer Jamieson of Valley Forge, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Mary M. Horn of Reno, Nevada, and Carol A. Ryan of Spokane; and two grandchildren.
