Mr. John Lester Smeltzer, age 49, of Doran, Virginia died Sunday, May 1, 2005 in a Richlands, Virginia hospital following a brief illness.
He was born in Welch, West Virginia and was the son of the late Goff Smeltzer and Dorcas Lester Lowe both Tazewell County, Virginia. He was a lifelong resident of the area and a former Coal Miner.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Louise Tolliver.

One Granddaughter: Savannah Morgan Smeltzer
Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
Graveside services for Mr. John Lester Smeltzer will be conducted Thursday, May 5, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Thompson Valley, Virginia with the Rev. Rick Pruitt officiating. Interment will follow. Pallbearers will be: Rodney Wilson, James Price, Larry Franklin Costello, Jr., Robbie Stanford, Larry Rose, Jr., Jamie Hill, Bill White, Anthony Wilson and Larry Mullins, Sr. Friends may call at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Thompson Valley, Virginia one hour prior to the service. Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia is in charge of the arrangements.
