Wallace Paul Rogers, Sr., 57, of Hemphill, TX died Thursday, April 18, 2013 as a result of an automobile accident.


Mr. Rogers lived most of his life in Lake Charles. He was a graduate of Franklin High School and served the United States Army. Mr. Rogers attained Certification in Master of Towing Vessels, having Captained Tugboats for over thirty years. The past fourteen years being with Higman Marine. His passion aside from "work" was his motorcycle, "the Beast" as he loved to ride. Mr. Rogers enjoyed poetry, having written his published book, "The Reflections of a Broken Heart. He also enjoyed gardening and the stillness of nature. He will be most remembered for his gift of listening, guiding and calming his children, family and friends.


He leaves to honor his memory, four children, Wallace Paul Rogers, Jr. of Lake Charles; Laura Jo Rogers of Ville Platte, Bradley James Rogers and wife Stephanie of Dupont, LA and Ashley Rogers DeSoto and husband Gerald of Bodoc, LA; eight grandchildren, Kaeleb Roy Rogers, Kelsey Denise Rogers, Lacey Nicole Rogers, Sylvie Lee Sonnier, Logan James Rogers, Isabella Jane Rogers, Peyton Denise DeSoto and Allison Claire DeSoto; two brothers, Ricky Joseph Rogers and wife Charlotte of Bridge City, TX and Edward Brian Rogers and wife Christine of Lake Charles; one sister, Marietta Gary and husband Tony of Sulphur and many nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Laura Dartez Rogers and one brother, Norman Joseph Rogers.


Memorial services will be at 3:00 PM Monday, April 22, 2013 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Father Wayne LeBleu will officiate. Gathering of friends Monday will be from 2:00 PM until the time of service in the funeral home.
