Chesapeake - Juanita Beatrice Whitt Holmes, 87, of the 4100 block of Stonebridge Landing passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2012.
Born on July 24, 1924 in Russell County, VA to the late George and Winnie Whitt, she was a member of Central Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil D. Holmes; two sons, Doug and Darrell Holmes; a daughter, Deborah Moore; a grandson, Brandon Troy Holmes; and several brothers and sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Diana Wysong and her husband Russ; a son, Keith Holmes and wife Kim; three sisters, Jean Miller, Lucy Webb and Audrey Noel; two brothers, Urshel Whitt and John Robinette; seven grandchildren, Anita, Ricky, Travis, Conan, Janel, Kyle and Kristen; six great grandchildren, Heather, Amber, Brandon, Trey, Trinity, and Savannah; and two great-great grandchildren, Allannah and Logan.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m.Saturday, March 31, in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel by Rev. Gene Primm. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
She was a wonderful mother and friend who knew how to love and to give; and she will be missed.
