Brian Thompson Palmer, 70 years, of Newport, MI went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 21, 2013 in his home with his family at his side.

Born December 27, 1942 in Luton Bedfordshire, England, Brian was the son of the late Gilbert and Lily (Thompson) Palmer. Brian attended school in England and received his degree from the City and Guilds Engineering School.

On March 16, 1963 Brian married his beloved wife, the former Margaret June Metcalfe, in Potters Bar, England. Shortly after marriage the couple moved to the United States.

Brian was employed as a Research Engineer for Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, MI for 26 years. While working for Ford, Brian furthered his education, and in 1997 he received his bachelors in Business Administration from Baker College. Brian retired from Ford in 1999.

Brian was a Christian man with a very strong faith in the Lord. He was a member of Lakeside Missionary Baptist Church in Newport, MI where he sang in the choir and served as the church treasurer. Brian also served as a missionary to the Philippines. Brian also enjoyed golfing, hunting, biking, gardening and playing racquetball. He loved spending time with his two Labrador Retrievers. More than anything Brian enjoyed his life and his family.

Brian is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years; Margaret, his loving daughter and son in law; Frances L. and Donald J. Abrams of Monroe, and a granddaughter that he just adored Emily Grace Abrams.

In addition to his parents, Brian was preceded in death by his brother Barry.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 3-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe. On Friday, April 26, 2013 he will lie instate at Lakeside Missionary Baptist Church from 10:30 AM until funeral services celebrating his life at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Larry Head, pastor of the church, will officiate. A luncheon at the church fellowship hall will follow. Interment services will be held at 2:30 PM at Roselawn Memorial Park.
