Blanche Elizabeth Swing Vickers, 87, passed away Friday, April 19, 2013 in Jacksonville. She was born in Midville, Georgia on April 8, 1926, one of seven children born to Berne and Sadie Swing.
Blanche was a longtime resident of Jacksonville and member of Southside Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing canasta and bowling.
Blanche was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Maurice Vickers in 2005, and by her six siblings. Survivors include her son, James David Vickers & his wife, Frances; her daughter, Nancy Vickers & Katherine Derrick; three grandchildren Chad, Justin & Ashley; three great-grandchildren Gavin, Colin & Lilly and many nieces, nephews and extended family & friends.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday April 27, 2013 in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd., S. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Hahira, Georgia. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday April 26, 2013 at the funeral home. Arrangements under the direction of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home.
