Charles Norris Wickersham, successfully engaged in farming in Jefferson township,is a worthy representative of the younger agricultural element of Logan county. He was born in Jefferson township, Logan county, Ohio, September 17, 1890, a son of Ivan and Mary (Parker) Wickersham. ...
Charles N. Wickersham attended the public schools of Jefferson township, and entered upon his independent career as a farm hand. Later he secured a half interest in farming the home acres and was associated with his father until the time of his marriage. After working out by the month for a short time, he first rented fifty acres, and after a year increased his venture to 111 acres, which continued to be the scene of his activities until he moved to his present farm, a tract of 300 acres. He feeds the greater part of his grain to his forty to fifty hogs; eighty head of sheep and six cows, dairying being a year round item of operation. He is an excellent farmer and an extremely enterprising young man, thoroughly competent in business transactions. As a voter he supports the Republican party, and his religious connection and that of his family is with the Methodist Episcopal church. March 19, 1909, Mr. Wickersham married Eva Merle Wilgus, who was born in Perry township, Logan county, daughter of John B. and Mary (Baker) Wilgus, the former a native of Logan county and the latter of Madison county, who have been farming people all of their lives. There were five children in the Wilgus family; Virgil LeRoy, Eva Merle, Esta Verne, Willis Paul and Velma Ruth. To Mr. and Mrs. Wickersham there have been born two children: Bernard Paul and Shirley Anita, who are attending school.
