Terry J. Benson, 70, of Rogers passed away suddenly Saturday, April 20, 2013, in Rogers.
He was born in the home of the late R.N. and Lena Reagan Benson on Aug. 19, 1942, in Kennett, Mo.

For 25 years, he was the adoring husband of Meriam Benson and proudly served in the U.S. Army.

Terry was very active in community activities, serving as the chairman of the Fort Smith United Way, as chairman and vice president of Finance for the WestArk Council of the Boy Scouts of America, earning the Silver Beaver Award, their highest honor for volunteers. A graduate of Arkansas State University, he retired as a district manager with Southwestern Bell Telephone.

He served as legislative liaison for Gov. Mike Huckabee and performed in his band, Capitol Offense. An accomplished musician, he was known for his renditions of Johnny Cash songs. Terry will be best remembered for giving back to his community in public service and friendships, his joy in life, strong faith, and his devotion to and happiness shared with his wife, Meriam.

He is survived by his wife of the home; daughter, Brandy (Francis) McShane of Springfield, Mo.; sons, Luke (Sondra) Benson of New Braunfels, Texas, and Jeff (Angela) Neal of Springdale; grandchildren, Delaney, Ella and Noah Neal, Victoria Benson, James, Claire and Ben McShane. He is also survived by sisters, Retta Burke, Rhonda Morris; and brother, Randy Benson.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 25, at the Fayetteville National Cemetery
