Centerville, UT. Randy Evans Dunn,56, a heroic and tenderhearted man returned home to his Heavenly Father on April 20, 2013 surrounded by his family and friends. Randy was a devoted son, husband, father, and grandfather whose strong spirit uplifted us, and kept our perspective focused on finding the positive that surrounds us. Randy gave us the gift of pure, gentle love.
Randy was born on May 16, 1956, in Ogden, Utah, to Richard Quayle Dunn and Janice Evans Dunn. He attended Viewmont High School and was a talented football player.
He met his high school sweetheart and eternal soul mate, Earlene Nelson Dunn and they married on December 1, 1973, in Bountiful. They were sealed in the LDS temple in 1995. Randy and Earlene, although young, worked diligently and as a team to make goals for their family and achieve them. Randy graduated from the University of Utah in 1979 with his accounting degree and later earned his C.P.A. Randy and Earlene were blessed with three children, Angela, Joshua, and Jessica. Randy's first priority and joy was providing for his family. His life centered around being a successful and nurturing husband and dad. All spare time and resources he had were given to being involved in his children's activities and in making a difference. Randy enjoyed coaching baseball, working with the youth, driving to dance lessons, and any other activity that allowed him to contribute.
Randy's personal qualities of integrity allowed him to build his career and eventually become a partner in his C.P.A firm. At the young age of 34, Randy was diagnosed with brain cancer. He did not let this stop him. After extensive surgery and treatment, he continued to do what he loved most-simply be with his family. Randy battled for twenty one years and was a quiet warrior who never complained despite his gradual losses and pain. He directed his focus outward, looking to comfort anyone and everyone. He was noble in the face of obstacles, humble, and the most compassionate soul we have ever known.
Randy enjoyed fishing with his dad, brother, and sons, playing golf, Hershey's chocolate, crab legs, pocket poker, watching the Jazz and the Utes, a visit from his kids and grandkids, and as he always put it, "Just being here."
