Mrs. Mellie J. Burford, beloved wife of J.M. Burford, died Jan. 24, 1901, aged 49 years 1 month and 18 days. She was stricken about a year ago with paralysis and since that time has been an invalid and constant sufferer.
She was married to J.M. Burford April 15, 1875, which union was blessed with five children, two having preceded her to the eternal world.
In 1875 she professed faith in Christ and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church South and lived a faithful christian life until called to her reward.
The funeral services were conducted by J.C. Denton at the Methodist Church South, after which the remains were conveyed to the Lutesville Cemetery, and there laid to rest.
