Thomas Edward Bevan was born in Clayville,Onieda, New York June 30, 1854 to Edward Bevan and Phoebe Ann Jones Bevan.
In 1862 he arrived in San Francisco on the steamship 'Golden Gate' via Isthmus. Three days later he arrive by side-wheel steamer at 'Nicholas' with his mother and brother. His father had migrated before the family and had settled.
In 1877 he married Sarah Ann Shields, stepdaughter of Joseph Murdock Hooper .(daughter of James Shields)
the couple had two children, who died young, Nellie E. and Alva M. Bevan . They are buried in the family plot.
Sarah died in 1886.
Thomas 2nd marriage was to Mary Cameron Mauzey in 1886 . Sarah and Edward had divorced after the death of their children.Thomas had four more children with Mary Cameron. Phoebe J., Caroline, Eleanor E. and Mary J. Bevan
He was Sheriff and Mayor in Wheatland , then Yuba County Assessor for over twenty years.
By 1920, he was living in Marysville where he died in 1833.
