Mary Ellen was born at 2 Union Terrace, Crayford, Kent. Her birth was registered by her father, Charles Edward Sevenoaks in Dartford District, Bexley Sub-District, Entry #40 on January 17, 1879.

She was baptized on June 26, 1879 at St. Paulinus Parish Church in Crayford.

On December 26, 1896, aged 18, Mary Ellen, daughter of Mary Elizabeth Box and the late Charles Edward Sevenoaks, married Walter Beagley, a bricklayer and son of Henry Beagley and Sarah Dance at St. Nicholas Church, Plumstead, Kent after banns. Witnesses were her uncle William James Box and her cousin Florence Elizabeth Box.

Mary Ellen and Walter had three children (Amelia, Mabel & Herbert) in England and two children (Grace & Leonard) in Canada.

In 1909, Walter sailed from Liverpool on board the Virginian arriving in Quebec City on July 2nd and then to Montreal to establish himself before bringing his family to Canada.
On August 4, 1910, Mary Ellen with her three children, Amelia (Millie) 11, Mabel 10, and Herbert 1, sailed on board the Royal Edward from Avonmouth arriving in Quebec City on August 10th and then to Montreal to join Walter.

Mary Ellen was widowed in 1933. In 1937, she returned to England to visit her family in Kent, for the first time since emigrating. She departed Montreal on board the Alaunia, arriving in London, England on May 30th. However, she was not well and returned to Montreal after 5 weeks, earlier than planned, sailing from Southampton, July 3rd. on board the Alaunice. She passed away the following May.

She died at 1435 Viau Street, Maisonneuve, Montreal, aged 59 years, 6 months and 6 days due to colon cancer.

Predeceased by her husband, Walter. She was survived by her children Millie, Mabel (Martin Vibert), Herb (Joyce Carpenter), Grace (Maurice Gore), and Len. Also survived by her grand-daughters, Thelma and Dorothy Vibert.

A funeral service was held on May 18th.. at Trinity United Church, 1626 Pie IX Blvd., Maisonneuve, Montreal followed by the interment.
