Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, April 15, at Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham, Illinois. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, Effingham. Sybil was born June 3, 1925, in Lake City, Illinois the daughter of John and Ada (Stocks) Reed. She married Otis W. Abercrombie in 1949, and he preceded her in death on March 12, 1999.
Sybil was a member of First Christian Church, Effingham, Illinois. She retired as a secretary from John Boos & Co., Effingham, Illinois. Sybil sewed and donated cancer caps. She also enjoyed knotting the Project Linus baby quilts. She was well known for her homemade cookies by both children and adults.
Sybil is survived by her sisters, Betty Reed and Joanne "Jo" Reed, both of Sullivan, Illinois and Emma (Fred) McCall of Washington, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Otis.
