W. K. Simpkin, 83, prominent farmer of Belleview Township in Calhoun county, died in Pike county hospital at Louisiana, Mo., Sunday, March 14 at 8:30 p. m. He had suffered a stroke and was admitted to the hospital four hours before his death. William Kendall Simpkin was born at Griggsville, Illinois, September 30, 1870, a son of Thomas and Elvira Kendall. Fifty-five years ago he moved to the Kendall farm in Calhoun county, where he lived until his death, He engaged in extensive farming operations-raising and feeding livestock and for many years was a leading apple grower of North Calhoun county. He was a member of the Episcopal Church at Griggsville. He was married to Miss Florene Jennings, who with three children survive. The children are: Mrs. Wilma Miller and Miss Mary Simpkin and William K. Simpkin, who is stationed in Korea with the United States Army. Also surviving are one brother, Thos. Simpkin and two sisters, Miss Jessie Simpkin and Mrs. Laura Lyle, all of Griggsville. Time of the funeral service has not been set due to lack of information as to the time of arrival of the son, W. K. Simpkin from Korea. Mrs. Simpkin has been advised his leave has been granted, but at this time has no definite information. The funeral service will be held in the Christian Church in Pleasant Hill, with Fr. R. K. Putt, pastor of the Episcopal Church of Griggsville in charge. Burial will be in Crescent Heights Cemetery.
