Joseph Mathias St. John was the son of William Anthony St. John (b. c1832 in CT) and Sarah Catherine Coker St. John (b. c1842 in TN).

Joseph married Amy Isabel Archer (b. c1878 at Paris, Ontario, Canada; d. p1940) in c1901 at presumably Illinois. Joseph and Amy were the parents of four known children, namely:

1. Robert William St. John (1902-2003)
2. Archer Anthony St. John (1904-1955)
3. Dorothy Alice Reed St. John Cooke (21 Aug 1906-1986)
4. John M. St. John (1912-p1930)

Joseph was a druggist and ran several pharmacies. After Joseph died, Amy remarried to a Mr. Rex (c1920-1921) and had another son:

5. Richard Edward Rex (30 Oct 1921-???)

In 1930 Amy (divorced), Dorothy (single), John and Richard still lived at Oak Park, Cook County, Illinois. In 1940 Amy Rex (divorced) and son Richard Rex were living with the married daughter Dorothy St. John Cooke (married to Paul Cooke) at Oak Park, Cook County, Illinois.

Joseph is listed in the cemetery index but does not have a grave marker at his plot.
