Al farmed with his father in the Windsor area until he joined the U. S. Army during WW II and was stationed at Fort Ord, CA. On December 5, 1948 he married Mildred Fabrizius and they lived on the farm. To this union a son, Donald, was born. Mildred passed away June 5, 1983. In 1985 Al married Bernice Cook, who brought additional children and grandchildren to the family. They were happily married for 26 years until his death.
Al worked for Public Service of Colorado, now Excel Energy, for 34 years before retiring in 1985. He was admired by his co-workers and supervisors, and was known throughout the Windsor area as a kind, gentle and caring man.
Al is survived by his wife, Bernice Ruschof Windsor; son, Donald (Lynn) Rusch of Windsor; three grandchildren, Brandon Rusch and Autumn Rusch both of Windsor and Tannielle (Ken) Amick of Greeley; three great grandsons, Quenten Amick, Jaden Rusch and Gavin Amick; and a great granddaughter, Madilynn Watson. He is also survived by four step children, Bob (Marcie) Cook of Casper, WY, Jim (Niki) Cook of Windsor, Peggy (Bill) Tremelling of Windsor, and Lanny (Debbie) Cook of Santee, CA; 14 step grandchildren, 26 step great grandchildren and 1 step great great-granddaughter. He also leaves behind sisters, Alma Borgens and Margie Schnieder both of Ft. Collins, CO and Esther Standley of Stayton, OR; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife; parents; seven sisters; three brothers and two step granddaughters.
