Wilfred E. Sterner
JEFFERSON – Wilfred E. Sterner, 81, of 23 Baltimore St., died at 1:55 a.m. Thursday at York County Hospital and Home. He was the husband of Edith J. (Bollinger) Sterner.
The service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Sauter Funeral Home, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove. Burial will be in St. Peter's (Lischey's) Cemetery, Spring Grove RD 5. Viewing will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Sterner was born in North Codorus Township. He was the son of the late Elmer and Anna (Spangler) Sterner.
He was a retired roadworker for PennDOT, and for many years he worked at the handle factory and canning factory in Jefferson.
A member of Christ United Church of Christ, he belonged to Jefferson Fire Company and Friendship Hose Company, Spring Grove. He was a member of Mount Zion Lodge 74 International Order of Oddfellows and York County Firemen's Association.
Mr. Sterner also is survived by a daughter, Annabelle R. Sterner at home; a step-daughter, Treva M. Myers of Spring Grove RD 3; three step-grandchildren; one step-great-granddaughter, and a sister, Rosella Boose of Dallastown.
Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the Rev. Charles I. Hull, and the Rev. Charles A. Smith, pastor of St. Peter's (Lischey's) United Church of Christ.
