Geneva Advertiser,
Tuesday,
April 5, 1887:
John R. Mc Cauley Dead.—We hear this noon of the death of the venerable John R. McCauley, too late to make an extended mention. He was born on the 12th of April 1806, on the farm on which he died and which has been his home for almost 81 years. He has been sick and almost helpless for two years and nine months, during which time he had to be constantly attended by his two sons, whose unremitted care has kept him alive so long. His final end was through a stroke of apoplexy. The weakened body could not withstand this shock, and he breathed his last yesterday morning, April 4th at 11 o'clock. The funeral will be held to-morrow (Wednesday) afternoon, at one o'clock from the house, at two o'clock from No. 9 Church. No man in Seneca was better or more favorably known than John R. McCauley.
