COWARD: Mr. Cindy Legrand Porter, 84, husband of Judy Lamb Porter, died Saturday, April 20, 2013, at the McLeod Hospice House, Florence.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 P.M., Monday, April 22, 2013, at Carolina Funeral Home, 215 E. Highway 378 ByPass, Scranton, with funeral services immediately following at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel with military honors.

Mr. Porter was born May 8, 1928, in Marion County, a son of the late Robert Lee Porter and Cleavie Mae Powers Porter. He retired from DuPont Industries and later owned and operated Services Unlimited. Mr. Porter was a Marine Veteran serving during World War II and an Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Grace & Glory Ministries, an active member of the Civil Air Patrol and a lifetime member of the VFW Post #3181 of Florence. He was an avid golfer and fisherman, and was first married to the late Sara Elizabeth Sweat Porter for 53 years.

Surviving besides his wife, Judy L. Porter of Coward, are three sons, Wendy Porter of Columbia, Robert Furman (Belinda) Porter and Danny Porter, both of Florence; grandchildren, Ryan Porter, Scarlett Porter, Karlin Porter, Alexis Porter; and two great-grandchildren, Lily Rayne Carver and River Gage Mullis. He was preceded in death by a sister, Zada Velois P. Jones, and a brother, Robert Nelson Porter.

The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff of McLeod Hospice House for their care and concern for Mr. Porter and his family during this time.
