Funeral services for Ms. Benton will be held on Monday, April 22, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Friendship United Methodist Church in Donalsonville, Georgia, with Rev. Kirk Loyless and Rev. Charles Dennis officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Church one hour prior to the service.
Ms. Benton was born April 22, 1922 in Donalsonville, Georgia. to the late Otho Benton and Scottie Sue Crowder Benton. After high school, Ms. Benton worked in administrative positions in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1980, she returned to South Georgia where she worked at Regions Bank in Bainbridge, Georgia until retiring from there in 1996. She then became the secretary for Friendship United Methodist Church. Ms. Benton was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church, the Grow Sunday School class, the Workers Guild, the American Cancer Society, the Donalsonville Woman's Club, the Golden Key Club, the Friendship Women's Society, and the Friendship Cemetery Association.
Ms. Benton leaves to cherish her memory, her sister,Jo Adams of Donalsonville, Georgia; a nephew, Dr. Don Howard of Savannah, Georgia; and two great nieces, Staci Howard Cannon and Ragan Howard Lee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otho and Scottie Sue Crowder Benton; a brother, Mills Benton; and three sisters, Rebecca Benton, Louise Benton White, and Annie H. Reynolds.
