William Grout was a Revolutionary War Veteran from Massachusetts. He was disabled from further service in the Battle of Monmouth, Mass. He settled in Achworth, NH in 1799 & held many offices there. He died in Rushford, NY in 1836. His wife was Mary Woodbury & he received a military pension starting in 1832.

His 1st wife was Rebecca Woodbury
