Billy Franklin Leonard, 61, of Bristol, Tenn., went home to be with his wife unexpectedly Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at his residence. Born on Dec. 12, 1940, in Sullivan County, (Leonard Town), Tenn., a son of Nelia Black Leonard of Bristol, Tenn., and the late Bruce C. Leonard.

He has resided in this area all of his life. Mr. Leonard retired from Raytheon Corp. in 1991, after 25 years of service. He was a former owner/operator of Leonards Sinclair and former owner of West State Street Barber Shop. He was of the Presbyterian faith.

Mr. Leonard was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Betty K. Wyatt Leonard in 1992; and by two brothers, J. D. Leonard and Fred Leonard.

Survivors include his mother, Nelia Black Leonard of Bristol, Tenn.; two sons, David F. Leonard and wife, Melissa Leonard, of Bristol, Tenn., and Dennis S. Leonard and wife, Patsy Hickman Leonard, of Blountville; two grandsons, Nicholas Andrew Leonard and Cody Austin Leonard; three sisters, Carol Mullins of Damascus, Juanita Ingle of Bristol, Va., and Betty Hayden of Bluff City; several nieces and nephews; and several special co-workers.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2002, in Glenwood Cemetery. Niles E. Kitzmiller will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be friends of the family.
