SAN ANTONIO Lawrence Grover Hale, 61, died Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Vitas Healthcare of Texas LP, San Antonio. He was born in Russell County, Va., son of the late Bud and Mabel Sutton Hale. He was the youngest of five brothers and five sisters born to this union. He was a veteran and retired from the United States Army. He could teach all of us a thing or two and he would if you would let him. He always was ready to be there for you no matter the situation. He wasn't one for holding his tongue and was known for telling you exactly how things were. He carried himself with integrity, honor and compassion. There were core values that paved out his legacy, but above all else, he valued his family. It seemed as if he never met a stranger and everyone was family. He taught you that life was about the simple things, to live life without limits and to treasure what is given to you freely, life your family and friends. He also taught you to stand up for what you believe in and to always take care of the ones you love. He embodied what it meant to be a true friend, father, husband, brother, and grandfather. He was a guiding light and will forever remain that light that shines brightly guiding us all along our journey in life. He was a true hero and his legacy will forever live on. He is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly Hale; three children, Christopher Clarkson, Tanesha Cunningham and husband, Kenneth, and Lawrence HaleJr. and wife, Stephanie; eight grandchildren, Krisheena Robinson, Christopher Robinson, Daontae Hale, Contrell Hale, Nyjah Hale, Elandra Lewis, Kacee Cunningham, and Aylssa Young; and a host of other relatives and dear friends. Graveside services and interment for Lawrence Grover Hale will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2013, in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Va., with the Rev. Roy Mabry officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, and Virginia National Guard. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
