Louise B. Root, 68, of Biglerville died Friday, July 29, at The Gettysburg Hospital. Born on Sept. 17, 1925 in Kahler, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William and Ada M. Burah-Burel.

Mrs. Root was a member of Twin Brook Baptist Church in Rockville, Md. and a member of the Women's Study Club of Gettysburg. She retired in 1992 after 27 years of service as a contract specialist for the U.S. Department of Labor.

She is survived by her husband, Henry E. Root; two daughters, Mary L. Rice of Newport News, Va. and Elizabeth A. Hayden of Columbia, Md.; two stepsons, Lawrence E. Root and Kenneth Root, both of Annandale, Va.; one sister, Rachel B. Thompson of Silver Spring, Md.; two brothers, William J. Burel of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Walter D. Burel of Gettysburg; seven grandchildren; one step-granddaughter, three great grandchildren, and two step-great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, Aug. 7 at 3 p.m. at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg, with her pastor, the Rev. John Laney officiating.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
