BURLEY – Gordon Blair, an 85-year-old resident of Burley, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at the Cassia Regional Medical Center in Burley.
He was born on June 26, 1927, the son of Carl W. and Dagmar Jorgensen Blair in Rupert. He had lived in the Rupert and Burley area and graduated from Rupert High School in 1946. Gordon married Barbara Pollard in January of 1949, she later passed away in 1981. Gordon then married Dolly Tanner on April 21, 1982, in Elko, Nevada.
Gordon worked for the Burley Flour Mill, Westlers Shoe Store, and then Ropers for the next 44 years where he started at the Rupert store and eventually found himself as the manager of the Burley store. He was very active in the Lions club for more than 55 years and had served as the District Governor during that time.
Gordon was an active member of the Burley First Christian Church.
He enjoyed hunting, collecting and trading Lions Club pins, loved to dance, travel, eating good food and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Dolly, of Burley; two children: Kim Wolverton, of Burley and Todd M. (Billie) Blair, of Meridian; two stepchildren: Barry (Linda) Tanner, of Paul, and Sandy (Jim) Madden, of Burley; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his twin brother, Russell (Rose) Blair, of Rupert.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Barbara; and a granddaughter, Stacey Tanner.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, at the Paul Cemetery, with Pastor John Marshall officiating.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, April 22, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St. in Burley.
