PENSACOLA, Fla. - JOHN R REASONER, 77, of Pensacola, Fla and formerly of
Kendallville died Tuesday in Baptist Hospital Pensacola, following an extended
illness.
He was born July 30, 1921 in Tippecanoe Township, Kosciusko County IN near North
Webster. In 1948, he married Jean Trumbell, who survives.
Mr Reasoner, the valedictorian and president of the 1939 class of North Webster
High School, was also a 1941 graduate of International Business College. He was
an accountant for General Electric until World War II when he served two years
in the Army Medical Corps at Fort Riley, Kan. Following his discharge he was
manager of the North Webster Lumber Co. He was a member of the North Webster
Church of the Brethren where he served as a deacon, treasurer and Sunday school
teacher.
In 1969 the family relocated to Kendallville where he was in supervising
inventory and accounting at Lyall Electric and became a member of Wawaka Church
of the Brethren. Following his retirement from Cline Brothers Lumber
Kendallville in 1987, the couple moved to Pensacola, Fla where he became a
member of the Scenic Heights Baptist Church.
His hobby was singing barber shop quartet music. He was a member of the Chain O'
Lakes Pokagon Pitchpipers and Fiesta Chorus. He sang in church quartets, choirs
and SPEBSQSA conventions with associated extensive travel.
In 1992 he became an Escambia County master gardener assisting children at
Hellen Caro School with potting plants, flowers and trees.
He is survived by his wife, six children, 12 grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 pm Friday in Scenic Heights Baptist Church with
the Rev Scott Weirmann and the Rev Joseph Gwyn officiating. Burial will be in
Bayview Cemetery. Visitation is today at the Harper-Morris Chapel 2276 Airport
Blvd Pensacola 32504.
