Sarah Peterson was born near Buncombe,Ill, December 24, 1861, died June 29, 1904, aged 43 years,(?) months and 24(?) days.
She was married to Nathan Peterson, August 18th, 1878 and to this union eleven children were born, nine of whom with their father are still living. Her maiden name was Pearce, and she belonged to one of the oldest and most, prominent families in this county.
Her father, Eld. W. B. Pearce, a Baptist minister, has been dead for several years. Her mother, F. M. Pearce, is still living in Buncombe. The deceased professed faith in Christ at the early age of 13 years; and united with the Baptist church at Mt. Zion,and has led a consistent
christian life to the end.
She had just passed through a great revival at Buncombe, to which she was greatly interested and took an active part in most all the services. Her last sickness was of short duration. She had a severe attack on Friday night, and passed away on Tuesday morning, being unconscious most of the time.
Her death is severe blow not only to her immediate family but to the entire community, and especially to her chruch, for her quiet and pure christian life, her helpfulness and wise counsel, she had endeared herself to all.
The funeral services were conducted by Eld. L. L. Smoot at the M.E. church, in Buncombe, after which she was laid to rest in the Jenkins cemetery.
