Leo L. Elliott, 89, of Bradenton, FL, formerly of Flint, Michigan, died on Apr. 8, 2013. Services will be held from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Fri. April 19, 2013.
Leo served in the Army during World War II. While serving his country, he earned the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. After the war, Leo moved to Flint, Michigan, where he attended college and worked as an accountant for General Motors. In 1970, He married the love of his life, Joyce (Mann) Elliott. In 1972, Leo and Joyce moved to Sarasota where he opened Elliott Accounting. Leo served for several years as the Director of the Sarasota Housing Authority. Leo always said that he planned to retire when he turned 90. Leo and Joyce were long time members of First Church of the Brethren, Sarasota.
Leo was preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Joyce. He is survived by his daughters, Marie Simpson of Maplewood, MN and Donna J. Tatham of Bradenton; his sons, Stephen Elliott of Sacramento, CA and Kyle Elliott of Bradenton; Great-Granddaughter Crystal J. Murphy; three grandsons, two granddaughters, thirteen additional great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
His loving family will miss Leo dearly. Leo (Dad, Papa, Bunga) was the rock and foundation of his family, a man who was gentle and strong, moral and kind, and who loved and lived his values.
A Military Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM Friday April 19, 2013 at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road, Sarasota. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to TideWell Hospice or Make-A-Wish Foundation.
