Judith Ann Jenne (nee Morris), 73, of Amherst, Ohio, died Sunday, March 17, 2013.

Born in 1940 in Grand Blanc, Michigan, Judy lived her childhood and young adult years in Northern Michigan before moving to the Amherst area more than 45 years ago, where she happily spent the rest of her life.

As a licensed social worker (with a bachelor's degree from Akron University) who filled a variety of positions within the social health care field, Judy was employed by Amherst Hospital (director of volunteer services); Amherst Area Chamber of Commerce (executive director); Elyria United Methodist Home (social worker); and Lorain County Adult Protective Services (social worker).

She retired from Golden Acres Nursing Home in 2005.

Judy enjoyed life's simple pleasures, including gardening, cooking, reading, and tending to her beloved dogs, hummingbirds, and orchids.

Never one to seek accolades or recognition, Judy preferred instead to move behind the scenes, helping those she loved to become successful and fulfilled. This strong motivation to assist others extended beyond her family, and reached others in the form of her chosen life's work as a teacher, a mentor, a healer, and a voice for children, the elderly, and those less fortunate. Her gentle and compassionate spirit guided her choices and energies. Judy recognized and sought to fill the gaping holes that exist for many individuals, and her role was significant.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, local artist Neal B. Jenne in 2011; her sister, Ruth E. Nelson in 1983, and parents, Herbert Sr. in 1975 and Lillian Morris (nee Sanders) in 2004.

Survivors include her daughter and her husband, Laura and Eric Robertson of Bakersfield, Calif.; grandchildren Trevor and Sydney Robertson; brother, Herbert Morris of Traverse City, Mich.; five nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews; aunt, Marilyn Jenne; brother-in-law and his wife, Dale and Dianna Jenne; sister-in-law and her husband, Barbara and George Shiltz; family friend, Susan Blair-McKinley; and dear friends Walter and Audrey McDowell and Lauren Fuqua, whose seemingly endless support, friendship, and love made her life richer.

A graveside service was held at the Cleveland Avenue Cemetery in Amherst. The Rev. Mark Pemberton of St. Peter United Church of Christ officiated.

The family is grateful to the Hempel Funeral Home for their kind and gentle guidance during this difficult time.
