Mrs. Madeline Thompson, 83, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 18, 2013.

She was a native of Jacksonville and had been very active in the Riverview Community, working with the PTA for many years at Henry F. Kite Elementary School. Mrs. Thompson was a long time member of Riverview Baptist Church, now Gardenview Baptist, serving as a Sunday School Teacher and involved with youth activities. In May 2001, she retired from the IRS as a customer service representative.

Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her parents, Nathan and Nora Thornton Dedge, her son, Howard L. "Howie" Thompson, her daughter, Juanita "Nita" McKelvey and her husband of 45 years, Howard L. Thompson.

Survivors include 2 daughters: Sheryl "Sherry" Trundy and Lynda Hart; 7 grandchildren: Doug (Carrieanne) McKelvey, Elizabeth (Derek) Brabston, Suzanne (Karl) Hudson, Ashley Trundy, Jennifer (Hal) Keene, John Thompson and Emily Thompson; 4 great grandchildren: Hailey, Kailyn, Halle Grace and Mason; 1 cousin: Arthur Thornton; 2 nieces and 2 great nieces.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 22, 2013 at Peeples Family Funeral Homes, North Jacksonville Chapel, 2220 Soutel Drive near Lem Turner Road with Pastor Steve Wolgamott, officiating. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.

Her family will greet friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the funeral home.
