Bettie Lou was born March 15, 1925 in Hinton West Virginia to Caroline Elizabeth McCallister and Hermine Earl McCallister. She was preceded in death by her father and mother; her husband Charles Raymond Jeffords, two sons, Jimmy and David Earl and a daughter, Carol Tolle, and a brother James Earl McCallister.

She is survived by one son, Ray Jeffords (wife Helen), Shelby, N.C., five daughters, Sylvia Norris (husband Dwight), Auburn, AL.; Rachel Settle (husband Vince), Waycross, GA; Bettie Ann Matthews (husband Jimmy), Lake Park, GA; Elaine Tatum (husband Mike), Jacksonville, Fl.; Celeste Stephens (husband Phillip), Waresboro, GA; eight granddaughters, Karen McCauley (husband Tom), Carmen Jordan (husband Matt), Dana Fouracker (husband P.J.), Davina Young (husband John), Jenni Morris (husband Andy), Michelle Tatum, Christy Compagines, Keri Fowler, nine Grandsons, Albert Tolle (wife Kim), Hamp Adams, Dr. Paul Jeffords (wife Caroline), Tony Tatum (wife Ali), Preston Settle, Trenton Purvis, Andy Tolle, Allen Tolle (wife Stacey), Christopher Jeffords, twenty-four Great Grand Children, three Step-Grand’s and several Great Grand’s. She is also survived by one sister, Helen Lois Hunt, Hamlet, N.C., two brothers, Tommy Lee McCallister, Ridgeland, S.C. and Basil Leo McCallister, Washougal, W.A. She is survived by nieces and nephews.

Bettie Lou was reared in Savannah, GA. and on May 31, 1943 married Charles Raymond Jeffords of Waresboro, Ga. where they lived the balance of their lives. She was employed by the Atlantic Coastline Railroad before she married. During the 1950's and 60's she worked for the U.S. Census Bureau. She completed her employment years with the Ware County School System with seventeen years of service.

Her hobbies included reading, sewing, gardening, crocheting, and designing homes her husband built.

Bettie Lou is a member of the Waresboro Church of God. She was extremely mission minded with financial support and mailed her crochet infant sweaters sets to mission’s fields all over the world.

Her greatest joy and accomplishment was raising her children and being surrounded by a very close and loving family.

Funeral service will be held at Miles Odum Funeral Home Saturday at 1:00 pm, the family will receive family and friends from 12 noon till 1:00 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Waresboro Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Building Fund, Cornerstone Church of God.
