June 6, 1932 - April 5, 2013

Kenneth Dale Yates passed away April 5, 2013, with his family at his side. He joins his wife, Susan Lenore Yates, who passed away November 2011. Born in Colorado June 6, 1932, the family later moved to California. Ken joined the Navy during the Korean War.He married Susan in 1953 and moved to Sacramento to work for Douglas Aerospace as Director.

In Shingle Springs, Ken worked many jobs before joining the District Attorney's office in child support and as a forensic artist. He was active in Boy Scouts with his sons. He was active on the El Dorado County Fair Board, including being Fair Director and as flower judge. He loved gardening, including his dahlias. His pride and joy was the working wooden carousel that he carved and built himself and entered in the California State Fair. After retiring, he and Susan traveled before settling in Siskiyou County. He enjoyed growing gardens, painted gourds and carved walking sticks he sold while helping at his son's bakery in Yreka.

Ken is survived by his two brothers and their families; son, Dale and his wife, LaVonne; grandson, Kenny and his wife, Maryanne; great-grandchildren, Troy, Melissa, Arizona and Bryant; granddaughter, Jennifer; and son, Kenneth, his wife, Cheri, and their children, Faith, Joy, Grace and Noble.
