WINTERS -- Elwood Wade, 71, died Thursday in Heritage Oaks Estates in Ballinger. He was born August 1, 1933 in Ballinger and attended school there. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He joined the Army in 1953 and was in the reserves until November 16, 1961. He married Virgie James on March 8, 1962 in Winters and had lived there since. He worked for an oilfield supply company and was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Winters.

Survivors are his wife, Virgie James Wade, and a daughter, Dana Wade, both of Winters. He was preceded in death by one son, James Lynn Wade.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Ferris Akins officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, directed by Winters Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Charles Rice, Paul Martin, Mike Duke, Terry Sneed, Scott Boulter, Clifford King, Carlos Juarez, and Scott Billups. WINTERS FUNERAL HOME WINTERS, TEXAS
