Memorial services for E. Ray Beasley, 79, of Athens are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Athens with the Rev. Kyle Henderson officiating.

Mr. Beasley went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 in Bedford.

Elton Ray Beasley was born Dec. 30, 1933 in Gladewater, the son of Darl De Leon Beasley and Hallye Valeria Thrash.

He retired after many years of oilfield service as VP of Operations for Dresser Security Industries. E. Ray was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Athens and of the Men's Sunday school class. He took pride in his involvement with the Labor of Love, and spent countless hours helping those in need in his community. He was an avid outdoorsman that loved hunting, fishing and golfing. "Papa" was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a much-loved family man that will be missed by all he knew and touched.

E. Ray was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Dale.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Carol June Maness Beasley, one daughter, Lara Denise Allen of Bedford, two brothers, D.D. Beasley, Jr. of Athens, Don Beasley and wife Judy of Whitehouse, two grandchildren, Alex Allen, Lacey Rae Allen and several nieces and nephews.
