She was born at St. Luke Maternity Hospital, Racine, Wis., Dec. 10, 1918. Her parents were Harry Arlington and Floss Ashcraft Trout.
In early years, they resided in Palm Beach, Fla., and San Antonio. The family later returned to Ohio, where Betty graduated from Fort Recovery High School in 1937. Betty worked for Union Circulation Co., New York City, and J.J. Newberry Co., Lima. Betty and Francis "Lefty" Dilworth were married Jan. 31, 1941, in the Church of Christ Parsonage, Lima. with the Rev. Simon Davidian officiating. Francis passed away in 1991.
Betty was past president of Business Professional Women's Club, Parent Teachers Association and Fort Recovery High School Alumna. She was a member of the Association for Research and Enlightenment, Virginia Beach, Va., and a charter member of Pi Kappa Phi, Ladies Poetry Society, Lima.
She was society editor and reporter for the Fort Recovery Journal and other area newspapers. As a freelance writer, Betty received many awards for her poetry and articles. She was also a former deputy registrar and a sales associate for Herbert Franke Realty. Betty retired from Fort Recovery Industries.
Survivors include her children, Keith (Rena), of Richmond Ina., Portia (David) Halterman, of Port Charlotte, Fla., Kevin, of Houston, Texas, and Kirk, of Fort Recovery. Also surviving are 10grandchildren and seven great¬grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son Kent Dilworth on Aug. 9, 2012;a infant daughter, Patsy in 1942; twin brothers, Bill and Bob Trout; and her husband.
Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery. Burial will follow the visitation in Green Park Cemetery, Portland, Ind.
