Services for Nina May Caldwell, 89, De Soto, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at De Soto Baptist Church. Burial will be in De Soto Cemetery.
Mrs. Caldwell died Friday, Oct 15, 1999, at her daughter's home in Kansas City, MO.
She was born Oct 1, 1910, in De Soto, the daughter of Benjamin Hubbard Smith II and Emma Mae(Moore)Smith.
She was a lifelong De Soto resident and graduated from De Soto High School. She moved to Kansas City, Mo., six years ago to live with her daughter.
Mrs. Caldwell owned and operated Caldwell Farms for 50 years with her husband. She was known as the "Pumpkin Lady" to the thousands of school Children wo visited her farm to pick Pumpkin each year. She retired in 1991.
She taught at Camp Branch before her marriage.
Mrs. Caldwell was a member of the De Soto United Methodist Church and a former member of the H.D. Unit and Farm Burea".
She married William F. Caldwell on April 23, 1930, in Olathe. He died in October, 1982.
Survivors include two daughters, Frances Semler, Kansas City, Mo., and Billie Wells, Winfield; nine grandchildren and 11 great grand-children.
A son, James Caldwell and a daughter, Marion Plumb, died earlier.
