Duane M. Caldwell of Bantam , CT, died unexpectedly on Tuesday April 16, 2013 in Torrington, CT, at the age of 48.
Mr. Caldwell was born in New Milford, CT on May 2, 1964 son of the late James and Carol (Boyd) Caldwell. He graduated from Henry Abbott Tech in 1982 and moved from New Milford to Bantam four years ago. Mr. Caldwell was a welder and owned Duane Caldwell Welding and was currently the owner of Cozy Hills Camp Ground in Bantam. He was a member of the Water Witch Fire Dept., the CT Campground Owners assoc. and involved in Pumpkin Chuckin' contest known as "Lord of the Gourds".
He is survived by his son Nicolai Caldwell of Bantam, CT, his brother Daniel Caldwell and sister Kim Caldwell Lang and her husband David all of New Milford, CT, his niece Rebecca Bloom and her husband Matthew, niece Katherine Caldwell and nephew James Caldwell and a grandniece Madison Bloom and his "Cozy Hills Family".
A funeral service will be held on Sat. April 20, 2013, 11 am at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St. in New Milford. Internment will follow in Center Cemetery in New Milford. Calling hours will be held Friday April 19, from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
Duane will be remembered for choosing to help others through tissue donation.
