Eliza C. (Ruby) Smith

Craley - Eliza C. (Ruby) Smith, Wrightsville, went from life to Life Eternal on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 6:15 a.m. at Pleasant

Acres Nursing Home at the age of 101. She was the wife of Earl W. Smith who entered into rest in 1955.
Eliza was a cigar maker for many years at the former H.L. Neff of Red Lion and then went to work at the former Porto Crib Assembler in Hellam until her retirement. She was a former member of the Ebenezer Church at Long Level. She enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family.

She is survived by three children, Burnell L. Smith and his wife, Charlotte of Wrightsville, Sally L. Reachard of Wrightsville and Robert L. Smith and his wife, Jean of Wrightsville. She is the grandmother to five grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; nineteen great-great grandchildren; and six great-great-great grandchildren, making her family six generations and she was the Aunt to several nieces and nephews. Eliza was preceded in death by a grandson, Burnell L. Smith, Jr., in 1955; her a son in law, Sam Reachard; and eight siblings.

Viewing will be on Monday, June 4th from 9-10 a.m. at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Service of Honor and Praise for Eliza will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home, with the Chaplain of Pleasant Acres Nursing Home, Rev. Susan Oelrich, officiating. Burial will be at Springville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggested contributions may be offered to the World Bird Sanctuary, 125 Bald Eagle Ridge Road, Valley Park, MO 63088, because Eliza loved watching wild birds.

When we are children we are happy and gay, and our mother is young and she laughs as we play. As we grow older we look back with love, knowing that mothers are a GIFT FROM ABOVE. So dry tears of sorrow, for mothers don't die, they just move in with God and keep house in the sky. And there in God's kingdom, they watch from above, to welcome their children with their UNDYING LOVE!
