George William Kinloch

Amherst-George William Kinloch, 89 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at Kingston of Vermilion. He was born June 16, 1920, in Bon Hill, Scotland, coming to the United States in 1924. he was raised in Youngstown and has been a resident of Amherst since 1960. George was employed with Ohio Edison for over forty years retiring in 1982, as an electrician. He served in the United States Army Corps during World War II in Alaska and the Aleutian Islands. He was a member of Saint Peter's United Church of Christ in Amherst. His hobbies included golfing, fishing, being outdoors working of playing, taking care of his dogs and cats. Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Elizabeth Ruth Kinloch (nee Conley); his son George William Kinloch, II and his wife Jan of Vermilion; and his brother, John Kinloch of Youngstown. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and May Kinloch (nee: Callanin); and by his sister Millie Valentine. Friends may call Sunday, December 27, 2009, from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 28, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. from the funeral home. Burial will be in Crownhill Cemetery, Amherst. Military honors will be presented by the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
