Carrie A. (Sticher) Prokop, 86, of Millville died Saturday, April 13, 2013, in Cooper University Hospital, Camden, after a brief illness.

Born in Cressona, Pa., she also grew up there.
She had worked for the U.S. government at various military bases. She met her husband Francis at Camp Kilmer, N.J. They lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., where she had worked at the Fort Hamilton Headquarters.

Upon her retirement, she and her husband moved to Mystic Island, N.J. After his death in 2004, Carrie moved to Lawrence Township in 2005. She was a bowler and participated in several leagues. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed trips to the casinos. Her favorite movies were Westerns starring John Wayne. Most recently she enjoyed nature by feeding turkeys and rabbits.

She is survived by her son, Laurence Prokop and fiancée Betty-Ann Moriarity of Virginia; her daughter, Roberta Rossi and husband Gene of Lawrence Township; a sister, Bernice Maffeo of Cressona, Pa.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Geraldine Sticher.

Funeral services will be in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad St., Millville. There will be a viewing in the funeral home before the service.

Burial will be in the B.G. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. Family and friends may gather in the cemetery chapel.
