Frances Marie Hoagland Christison Cooney, 81, of Ashland, died Sunday, September 30, 2018, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
She was born December 16, 1936, in Prentice, the daughter of Fred R. and Olive Bernece Hymes Hoagland. She married Gerald L. "Gabe" Christison on March 26, 1955, in Jacksonville, and he preceded her in death on October 23, 1984. She later married John C. Cooney on February 20, 1988, in Ashland, and he preceded her in death on June 17, 1998.
She is survived by four sons, Randy L. (Amy) Christison of Tallula, Jerry L. (Lori) Christison of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Larry D. Christison (Joseph Evans) of Springfield, and Mark E. (Mindy) Christison of Petersburg; Nine grandchildren, Casey, Bridget, Joseph, Lucas, Amanda, Lauren, Madison, Breckyn and Caden Christison; two great grandchildren, Bailey and Trevor White; one brother, Donald (Kathleen) Hoagland; and one sister, Dorothy (Jerald) Greenlee. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Deborah Marie Christison; one brother, Harold E. Hoagland; and two sisters, Olive Twyford and Margaret Crabbe.
Frances graduated from Ashland High School in 1954. She then worked for the State Bank of Ashland for 32 years, retiring in December of 2001. She was a member of the Ashland Church of Christ and a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed crocheting and baking, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2018, at Yatesville Cemetery east of Prentice.
