Funeral services for Michael Deutsch, 89, of New Prague were held on Thursday, Feb. 22, at 10 a.m. at the Church of St. Wenceslaus with the Very Rev. A. C. Jirik officiating the Requiem Mass. The pallbearers were Herbert Deutsch, Roman Deutsch, Albert Unger, Nelfred Deutsch, Francis Noehbor and Raymond Deutsch. Interment was made in the parish cemetery. Mr. Deutsch passed away at his home on Monday, Feb. 19. He was born on July 12, 1878, the son of John and Margaret Hennen Deutsch in Helena township. On Jan. 20, 1914, he was married to Mary Unger at the Church of St. Wenceslaus in New Prague. They made their home on a farm until their retirement in 1941. He is survived by his widow, Mary; four sons: Michael of St. Paul, Norbert and Justin of New Prague and Robert of Vista, Calif. and a daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Martha) of Minneapolis; a sister, Mrs. William (Mary) Nochbor of Jordan; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Stanley, who passed away in 1927; four brothers, Joseph, Peter, Mathew and Henry Deutsch and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Peters.
