John Hogan McBee was born in Kendall County on November 9, 1936, to John and Rena Taylor McBee. He passed away in Seguin on Sunday, January 27, 2013, at the age of 76.

John was raised Church of Christ. He ran track and played football as a Boerne Greyhound. He was president of his senior class and graduated from Boerne High School in 1956. He went to work for GTE Telephone Company the summer after graduating and worked all over South and Southeast Texas. John married Billie Faye Smith in 1958. He was active in the Jaycee's and Kiwanis and formed a country band called Johnny McBee and the Good Tymes.

Billie passed away in 1999 and in 2000, he married Joy Nell Mints McBee who was his Boerne classmate since the 5th grade. They made their home in Converse. In 2008, John and Joy started playing and singing at nursing homes, oprys, and the Geronimo VFW. They are members of the Cowboy Church in Marion. Along with music, John enjoyed hunting and fishing as well. John worked hard to raise money for disabled veterans.

John is survived by his wife Joy of Converse; his children John Calvin McBee and wife Kristie of San Antonio, Karen Stiernagle of Katy, and Scott McBee; his grandchildren Jennifer and Jeremy McBee, Travis Stiernagle and wife Kem and Dustin Stiernagle; his stepchildren Nancy Gault Elliott and husband Bobby of San Antonio, Ray C. Gault and wife Tambra of Converse, and Jim D. Gault and wife Kathy of Manchaca; his step grandchildren Aaron Orcutt, Brandon Stiernagle, and Danielle Elliott Johns and husband Justin; his brother Leonard McBee of Spring; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Billie McBee; his son Bradley Keith McBee; his step grandsons, Brock Stiernagle and Trevor Elliott; and his brothers, Bill and Cliff McBee.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 31, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. and then interment will be at the Boerne Cemetery.
