Nellie Esther Wilbur, of Boise, died Friday, Nov. 24, 1989, after fighting illness courageously for many months.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, in the Relyea Funeral Chapel. Bishop Dennis Clark of the Boise 15th Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will officiate. Burial will follow in the Emmett Cemetery.
Nellie was born Oct. 16, 1913, at Heyburn, Idaho, a daughter of Harriett and Charles Rich. She was separated from 10 brothers and sisters, and was raised most of her young life in the Boise Children's Home.
Nellie was a tower of strength and a real survivor. She was a helpmate to her husband all of her life. She instilled in her children the same sensitive, loving and giving nature that was hers. Even though Nellie was not a highly-educated person, she had more wisdom than most people, and used this wisdoma as she guided her family through troubled times. Her first thoughts were always for her husband, Clark, and her five children. She had a funloving nature, and never spoke an unkind word about anyone. Everyone who knew her loved her, and an unkind word about her has never been spoken. She truly has earned a special place in her Heavenly Father's kingdom, and would easily win a "Mother of the Century" award. She will be missed tremendously by her family.
Survivors include five children, Barbara Jean Lucas of Riggins, William Clark Wilbur of Lancaster, California. Patricia Higgins of Winter Park, Fla., and Virginia McLeod and Leroy Wilbur, both of Boise; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Verna Nellie Smith, who has always been like a very close sister to her. Her daughters-in-law were her daughters, and her sons-in-law were her sons-loved equally, as much as her own children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clark Hiram Wilbur; her parents; and all of her brothers and sisters, as far as is known.
Friends may call today from noon until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of services at the Relyea Funeral Chapel in Boise.
