Professional Hockey Player. For six seasons (1947 to 1953), he played at the right-wing position in the National Hockey League with the Boston Bruins and New York Rangers. He made history when he became the first player born in Finland to score a goal in the NHL. He moved with his family to Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada when he was sic years old. He initiated his career on the ice with the Boston Olympians of the Eastern Amateur Hockey League and two years later, he was promoted to the Bruins of the NHL (1947). Lund had an immediate impact in the league, as he scored 14 goals with 16 assists in 59 games during his rookie season (1947-1948), for which earned him the Calder Memorial Trophy. Lund was a contributor to the Rangers' squad which reached the Stanley Cup Finals in 1950 and yielded 6 goals with 5 assists during the postseason that year. In 259 regular season games he compiled 44 goals with 55 assists. After retiring as a player, he served as a sports editor with the Thunder Bay Times-News.
