Mary E. Hanson, 76 of Rollag, Minnesota died Saturday in The Good Samaritan Society, Barnesville, Minnesota.

Funeral service will be Thursday at 11 in Rollag Lutheran Church, Rollag, Minnesota with Pastor Jim Greene officiating. Charlene Tolbert will serve as soloist accompanied by organist Sarah Tolbert. Pallbearers will be Cory Hanson, Jeremy Hanson, Nathan Bontjes, Josh Hanson, Dana Bontjes, , James Hanson, Nick Hanson, and Zac Hanson-Thurn. Honorary Pallbearers will be all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 4- 8 with a prayer service at 7 in Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville and two hours before the service at the church. Interment will be in Rollag Lutheran Cemetery.

Mary, daughter of Jorgen and Beija (Robinson) Hemness, was born May 3, 1932 in Moorhead. She attended school and grew to womanhood in Wahpeton, graduating from Wahpeton High School in 1950. She attended nurses training at St. Lukes Hospital, Fargo, now MeritCare and worked there for a short while.

She married Marvin Hanson on August 14, 1954 in Rollag Lutheran Church. They lived in Minneapolis and California before making their home near Rollag where she worked for the Pelican Valley Health Center for over 20 years. She continued to live near Rollag until September of this year when she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society. She lived there until the time of her death.

She was a member of Rollag Lutheran Church, Rollag Lutheran Aid member and past president. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 28 of Clarksdale, Mississippi. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, reading, and occasional trips to Mahnomen. She loved watching birds and squirrels and spending time with her family, grand-kids and especially her great-grandkids.

She is survived by her husband Marvin; three sons, Lloyd (Julie) Hanson of Rollag, Lynn (Diane) Hanson also of Rollag and Keith Hanson of Fargo; one daughter, Diana Bontjes of Rosemount, Minnesota. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
