Diane B. Hicks, age 77 of Monroe, died at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday in her home. She had been in poor health for 4 months.
Friends may visit from 3 – 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 – 5 p.m. Sunday at Rupp Funeral Home where services will be held at 12 p.m. Monday. Rev. James Jacobs will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, LaSalle.
Born July 16, 1935 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Jacob and Emma (Williams) Eash.
Diane moved to Monroe in 1944 and attended Monroe Public Schools, graduating from Monroe High School in 1953. She was employed by Michigan Bell Telephone Company as a Long Distance Operator for 11 years and was a former volunteer at Mercy Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed Disney World and collecting carousel horse figurines.
Diane is survived by many nieces and nephews including Diane Calpin, who was named after her Aunt Diane, of Maryland and Joseph (Bonnie) Calpin of Ohio. In addition, Diane is also survived by a caring friend whom she made her home with, Anita (Tom) Watling.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents; a son Jeffrey S. Hicks; two sisters, Delores Ray and Mildred Calpin; and her best friend Mary Alexander.
