VERA M. KNIFFEN
Vera M. Kniffen, 76, of Elting Road, died Sunday, July 21, 2002 at her home. She was born March 10, 1926 in Sharon, CT, a daughter of the late Lavern H. and Edna Kelsy Niles. She had resided in Rosendale for the past 48 years.
Mrs. Kniffen worked as a manager in the Food Service Department of the Rondout Valley School District until her retirement in 1989. She worked at the Marbletown Elementary School for many years. She was a member of the United Reformed Church of Rosendale, the Rosendale Senior Citizens and the AARP. Her husband, Walter Kniffen, died in 1991.
She is survived by a daughter, Heidi VanAlstyne of New Baltimore, NY; two sons, Jerry Niles of New Paltz and Jeffery Kniffen of Kingston; a sister, Hazel Lucas of CT; as well as several nieces and nephews. Vera loved her little canine companion Jemitha.
Memorials are requested to the United Reformed Church, Bloomington, N.Y. 12411, or to the American Cancer Society.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at George J. Moylan Funeral Home, state Route 32, Rosendale, with the Rev. Nickolas Miles officiating. Burial will be in New Paltz Rural Cemetery.
