Carl D. Garland 70, of Surprise, AZ, passed away Oct. 29, 2009. Carl grew up in Peoria, IL and worked for the Peoria Journal Star before moving to AZ. He retired from the Arizona Republic as a pressman after 25 years. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy, daughter Lynne Cordova (Gilbert), sons Mitch (Sharon) and David (Crystal), 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and brothers Sam of Illinois and Everett of NY. He is preceded in death by a son, Ty, parents Coy and Luella, and sister Mercedith Metz. Visitation is Nov. 2, 2009 from 11:00am-12:00pm followed by a Celebration of Life Service at Heritage Funeral Chapel, 6830 W. Thunderbird Rd., Peoria, AZ.
